With an ambition to build a culture of inclusion for artists with disabilities in the art world, Dialogue is a curated art exhibition organised by Very Special Arts Singapore to eliminate the misconception that artists with disabilities are not able to produce “fine” art. This exhibition gathers more than 20 pieces of artworks by Gregory Burns (Polio) and Chng Seok Tin (visually impaired) in the space of Visual Arts Centre to share their concerns about the society as well as their struggles of being a disabled artist in Singapore. Since “dialogue” is an exchange of ideas or opinions on a particular issue, it allows the audience to have a silent conversation with the exhibited pieces to resolve an issue, which is the discrimination towards artists with disabilities.
As part of the Singapore Art Week, an artist’s talk (by Gregory Burns) as well as an art workshop (by Chng Seok Tin) will be integrated to continue the dialogue about the cause.
Last but not least, 80% of the sales of artworks will be returned to the featured artists to supplement their incomes.
Private Preview Session: 17 January 2017, Tuesday, 6.30 p.m.
