About – Nude Life Drawing Workshop with Artist Guidance

The Nude Life Figure Drawing Workshop is a 2.5 hours session.

What will you learn in this Nude Life Figure Drawing Workshop:

  • An understanding and approach on how to get started on figure drawing
  • Observational techniques
  • Human anatomy and proportion
  • Develop drawing techniques (Shadows and Highlights)
  • Basic elements capturing shades and tones, proportion, form and volume.

The Nude Life Drawing with Art Guidance Workshop is 2.5 hours long and conducted at our art studio at Dhoby Ghaut Green. A nude life model will be present so that you are able to observe their complexion to determine the highlights and shadows of the skin. Participants will gain skills in drawing the human form – learn about human anatomy,  proportion, and methods of observation.

Whether you are a beginner or have high proficiency in drawing/painting, this Nude Life Drawing Workshop will definitely leave you with an experience that is enriching and gratifying!

Suitable for everyone

Don’t worry if you are a beginner! As long as you have an interest in picking up life drawing, we will be here to guide and assist you in honing your observational and sketching skills.

For our more experienced participants, this Nude Life Drawing Workshop is an absolute value add to your portfolio, or even just to improve your life (and live) drawing skills. Every life drawing session is fresh and you will experience drawing new poses and gestures. The models may change as well, thus enabling more practice on drawing different human figures. You will also be guided on more advanced skills, thus enhancing your skills and knowledge in the field of live sketching.

How will the Workshop be conducted?

The workshop begins with a brief introduction of the human anatomy and methods of observation and sketching. Then, there will be a live demonstration by one of our experienced professional art instructors, thus giving you an example on how to get started and how drawing the human form comes together.

During the workshop, you will be guided by our art instructor through the life drawing process. Our art instructor will also provide useful tips and pointers to help you improve your drawing. If you need help getting started, or what to do next, do not hesitate to ask our friendly art instructor!

Our model will maintain both short and long poses. Short poses are primarily for you to get a hang of drawing a figure with the right line of action, while long poses allows you time to refine your drawing. This would mean refining details like facial and body features, proportions, and highlights and shadows of the model’s complexion.

A short break will be taken every 15 to 25 minutes. Again, feel free to ask our art instructor any questions and get help on your drawing during this time! They are more than willing to help you out.

This tradition values both classical principles and innovation, encouraging artists to push boundaries while maintaining a deep respect for tradition.
