The holidays in 2026 is coming soon and Visual Arts Centre’s Holiday Kids Art Immersion Course is the perfect programme for your child to explore new mediums and build up their foundational art techniques. This fully immersive holiday programme allows your young teens to dip their toes into learning and practising art. Whether it is to pick up a new hobby or to get a kick-start in building up an Art Portfolio for admission into an art school in the future, the Holiday Art Immersion Course for kids is perfect to provide a quick and immersive experience in art!

This holiday, we are offering an Art Exploration Series – Holiday Art Immersion Course for students interested in signing up for a Holiday Programme with us! Have the option to learn basic Urban Landscape Sketching, 3D Tonal Drawing & Sketching and also Coloured Markers & Illustration!

We offer a full range of mediums for kids to explore and learn with us!

Professional art courses should never be boring. At Visual Arts Centre, we provide opportunities for your child to develop artistic knowledge and skills through a range of media, forms and expressions. Students will be able to experience different mediums to help elevate their creative juices and to grow to be independent in their learning.

Art Exploration Series – KIDS Holiday Art Immersion Course

In this Art Exploration Series – KIDS Holiday Art Immersion Programme, your child would be able to explore up to 2 types of mediums and works!

 1. Kids Acrylic Painting – Art Immersion Holiday Art Course | Art Class | Art Lesson

Painting courses to train observational skills.
Acrylic flower painting
What can you expect?
  • Beginner-friendly painting lessons on simple colour theory and paintbrush techniques
  • Subject matters that you will engage in during the sessions
    • Painting simple graphic designs (animals, landscape, character)
    • Gradient background in landscape painting (sunset, twilight, sunset)
    • Still life observation painting (an arrangement of fruits – 1 to 3 items)
During the Art Course | Art Class | Art Lesson, students will: 
  • Practice blending techniques
  • Gain observational skills on composition, proportions and perspectives of drawing
  • Understand colour theory and mixing using primary and secondary colours
All art materials are provided for FREE. After the 8 weeks, students will take home 2 of their artworks and a small acrylic study to help them further improve their skills.

The Art Exploration Series has the aim to help kids explore the various mediums of art outside of the fine-arts learning that we have as part of our ongoing courses. It allows them the opportunity to be in touch with different forms of art, and find out a new niche that is to their interest! Build up their creative minds and open up new possibilities, as well as let them have a space to fully explore their inner thoughts and creativity!

Choose up to 2 types of mediums/styles of art for your kid’s creative immersion (A unique artwork will be finished in two to three classes, depending on the medium)

All art materials are provided for this course! Parents and kids can choose up to two types of mediums/styles of artworks under the Holiday Art Immersion Course.

At Visual Arts Centre, we believe that each student learns at a different pace. Thus, the class is conducted at their individual preference and abilities. They will be taught according to their preferred mediums and will be given individual guidance by our professional art instructors.

    • Sketching Anatomy (character – facial, body, male/female)

During the Art Course | Art Class | Art Lesson, students will:
  • Learn to basic human anatomy – with proportion
  • Gain observational skills on composition, correct proportions and perspectives of the art reference

At Visual Arts Centre, we believe that each child learns at a different pace. Thus, each class will be conducted at your kid’s individual preference and abilities. No workshop style classes nor classroom styled teaching! Despite being in class with other students, your child will be taught according to their preferred mediums and will be given individual guidance by our professional instructors and studio assistants in regular intervals during the duration of each class.

This programme would provide a good platform to build up a small portfolio and a good stepping stone to allow them to learn basic foundational techniques that goes hand in hand with our Art Portfolio Preparation Course.

The Art Portfolio Preparation Course is perfect for students applying for local art academies such as Nanyang College of Art (NAFA) , LaSalle College of Art,  Singapore Art Institute (SOTA), NUS, NTU or foreign art academies that requires them to prepare a personal art collection.

If your child want to enter their ideal art school with special talents, they can add to their artistic talents and enter the DSA Art Specialty Program. Visual Arts Centre provides training courses. 3. Professional Urban Landscape Sketching Bootcamp [6 Sessions | $580nett]

This is a guided course by our professional instructor and we will also be going outdoors to capture different life subjects such as trees, bushes and architecture. All art materials will be provided for this course and is suitable for learners from the age of 8 years and above with varying levels of experience!

How will the Bootcamp be conducted?

  • Bootcamp will be conducted at Dhoby Ghaut Art Studio. 
    • Our professional Art Instructor will be guiding the kids and teens mostly in the classroom, there will also be stipulated outdoor-time (30-60mins) along the scenic view near the Dhoby Ghaut VAC Art Studio such as Fort Canning, Istana Park and National Museum Singapore.
  • Kids and Teens are recommended to bring their very own hats, insect repellent and water bottles.

In this course, you will learn the following:

  • Perspective in urban sketching. You’ll learn about one-point, two-point, and three-point perspectives and how to apply them to accurately represent buildings and streets in your sketches.

  • Composition and Framing learn about how to create dynamic and interesting compositions and capture different types of landscapes

  • Urban scenes are full of urban elements and details. You’ll study different techniques to draw buildings, windows, doors, street signs to add life and authenticity to your sketches.

  • Introduction of sketching techniques and skills to express different textures and elements.

5. Introduction to Digital Drawing and Painting Bootcamp [5 Sessions | $698nett]

Digital drawing and digital painting refers to the process of creating artwork using digital tools and software. It involves using a digital drawing tablet or a computer with specialized software such as Adobe Photoshop, Procreate, or Clip Studio Paint, which offers a wide range of brushes, colours, and other digital tools.

In this course, you will learn the following:

  • These programs provide a digital canvas where artists can create and manipulate their artwork. Digital painting requires traditional painting skills as digital painting artworks are not premade and they are produced through a canvas through the software. With solid foundation of line, colouration, tonal, perspectives and imagination in traditional drawing, this would help to produce digital painting artworks in a more realistic form and present stronger 3D perspective effects.
  • Digital painting offers several advantages over traditional painting methods. It allows for easy undo and redo, while offering a wide range of digital brushes and effects. It also provides the convenience of working without the need for physical art supplies or extensive cleanup.

Pen pressure is crucial in creating good digital art, as it gives you the option of defining the thickness and heaviness of each stroke as if you are using a real pencil! This adds the feeling of depth to your work, making it more impressive.

Our Teaching Approach

Visual Arts Centre believes in an academy school approach of art teaching and offers professional art courses and workshops for youths and adults. We believe in empowering our art students with a good art foundation, with any art mediums which we offer in our art courses. Professional art courses such as Drawing and Sketching course, Acrylic Painting course, Oil Painting course, Watercolour Painting course, Chinese ink painting course are our main art mediums of academy school approach art training.

Short term art courses and workshops are offered during the school holidays and various seasons and includes various creative mediums, with seasonal themes that allows learners to pick up new art mediums and creative approaches. Art courses and workshops are conducted in a small group setting at Visual Arts Centre. Depending on the art course or workshop, art learners may be guided in a group setting with individualised coaching, or may be instructed and taught through a step by step approach as a classroom setting. 

The duration of each art course and workshop is designed to provide an optimal learning experience for the age group, theme, medium and subject matter.
