The title is a metaphor that symbolizes the students’ artistic journey of discovery and confident expression. Similar to the concept of looking through a mirror, the exhibition offers a unique perspective into the creative minds of the students and their evolving artistic abilities. Just as the characters in Lewis Carroll’s “Alice’s Adventures in Wonderland” step through the looking glass into a fantastical world, the students’ artworks provide a glimpse into their imaginative and innovative interpretations of the world around them.
“Through the Looking Glass not only reflects the students’ exploration of their artistic potential but also signifies their transition from being mere observers to active participants in the art world. By showcasing the works of the EAP, Art JeWel, and Art Club, the exhibition provides insight into the school’s three key art programmes, demonstrating how it has contributed to the students growth as artists. It allows viewers to understand the purpose of these programmes by witnessing the diverse and confident expressions of the students, thus highlighting the impact of the combined art programmes in nurturing their creative talents and providing a platform for them to share their unique perspectives with the community.
